Launch Point: Plymouth – Commercial Wharf

Commercial Wharf Slipway from the top

Name of the Launch Location: Commercial Wharf

About the Area: This slipway is right next to Elphinstone Slipway, on the other side of Pier Masters House, and has no car parking of its own. Dinghies can be manually moved along a small path with an overhanging tree (may need the mast to be down), passing a bollard by putting a launching tyre on the kerb. The long stay Elphinstone carpark is the primary location for this slipway. The slipway itself is steep and cobbled.

Launch Information:
Costs to launch: Free, it’s a public slipway

Launch facilities: Note that there is a large block mounted securely to the wall for putting a rope through to help pull boats up or lower them down, using a few people. This looks like a ramp used by clubs, teams or groups to sail as the steepness and lack of vehicular access means that it’s people power only to lower boats down or raise them up the steep ramp. If you are planning to sail from this slipway, bring a long rope and plenty of friends.
