The locals don’t recommend attempting to sail from Calstock to Morwellham Quay because the river is narrow, the trees overhang the banks, there are fallen trees in the river to avoid and the wind is unreliable at some point in the winding journey. They recommend that you row or motor this part of the river.

Tidal Information

Tidal Information:
It’s best to travel with the tide in both directions. If you are planning to arrive at 8pm, and then leave the next day at 9am then a day with those tides would be best, and yet you can arrive and leave at whatever time you like – as long as you sail and row with the tide there and back the next day with the ebb.

Best Tides:
Best Tides for this dinghy trail are on a day with a high tide between 19:00 (7 PM) and 21:00 (9 PM) if you are planning to stay just overnight.

Toilets:
There are toilets at Morwellham Quay.
